Virtual Ship to Shop: Women and Commerce in Colonial Annapolis
Date: Thursday, June 4, 2020
Location: Online Event
Time: 7 pm - 7:30 pm
Join Historic Annapolis for our first Facebook Live living history event!
The year is 1770, and we will (virtually) stroll together down one of the quaintest streets in Annapolis, Pinkney Street. Experience what life was like in Annapolis 250 years ago - a bustling port town and colonial capital, where commerce is thriving.
You’ll (virtually) encounter sailors, laborers, servants, and the local milliner, Catharine Rathal. They’ll engage with you and share how women contributed to the economy, how they coped with unsettled times, and how the merchants dealt with international trade. Join us (virtually) as we visit them at the Waterfront Warehouse, Shiplap House, and Hogshead.
See our town’s history come alive for all ages from the comfort of your own couch.
