Winter Lecture Series: Part I: Slaves and Servants and Part II: Black Lives in Colonial Annapolis

Dr. Jean Russo will present a two-part look at bound labor in the Chesapeake in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Part I is a general overview of indentured, convict, and enslaved laborers in the region, particularly in the seventeenth century. Part II is a more focused study of the lives of enslaved and free blacks in colonial Annapolis, with a consideration also of the bound laborers at work in the Paca household.
