Black History Month at the Museum of Historic Annapolis

Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of Historic Annapolis! Drop in on Saturday, February 8 for special family activities to commemorate the rich cultural heritage of the African Americans who have helped shape the nation.
- Between 12 pm and 2 pm, meet a living historian portraying Lucy Smith, a free Black woman who sold baked goods at the marketplace near City Dock in the early 1800’s.
- Make a special craft, then enjoy a scavenger hunt through the museum and learn about local Black history.
- Take a break in the Anne Arundel County Library Book Nook and learn more about African American history with a curated selection of children’s books.
- Check out the Community Gallery special exhibit: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Annapolis Activism
- Guided Tours of the Museum offered at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm
Cost: $7 General Admission (8+); FREE for HA Members, Children 7 and under, and SNAP/WIC recipients through Museums for All

Super Saturday Storytime at the Museum of Historic Annapolis

Time: 11:00 am (EST) – 12:00 pm (EST)
Join us for a special Storytime as we welcome back local author Priscilla Cummings at the Museum of Historic Annapolis. Ms. Cummings will read aloud her book, “Meet Chadwick and His Chesapeake Bay Friends”.
Children will enjoy the rhyming story and colorful pictures in this introduction to Chadwick the Chesapeake Bay blue crab and his many friends: Bernie the Sea Gull, Toulouse the Canada Goose, Matilda Egret, Hector Spector the Jellyfish, Orville Oyster, and others!
After the reading, explore the Museum on your own on a scavenger hunt.
A limited number of books will be available for purchase! Cash or check only, please.
Advance registration required, space is limited. Admission fee includes entry to the museum.

Presidents’ Day at the Museum of Historic Annapolis

Learn all about Presidents’ Day with fun activities at the Museum of Historic Annapolis! All activities are included with admission.

- Explore the Museum with a scavenger hunt.
- Learn more about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with a curated selection of children’s books in our Anne Arundel County Library Book Nook.
- Check out our current Community Gallery exhibit, The Civil Rights Act of 1963 and Annapolis Activism, and learn about the trailblazers who shaped our Annapolis history.
