HA donors, members, volunteers, and partners are invited to join us for our 2024 Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards!
We are honored to welcome guest speaker Carol Quillen, the 10th President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. We will also celebrate several individuals who have served as dedicated stewards of historic preservation for many years with our Preservation Awards! This year, we are pleased to honor:
- The Honorable Sarah K. Elfreth, Preservation Leadership Award
- Kenneth Tom, Community Service Award
- Alma Cropper, Preservation Advocacy Award
- Dr. Carol Benson, Lifetime Achievement Award
- Dean D’Camera, Chairman’s Leadership Award
The meeting and awards will be followed by a light reception.

About Our Speaker: Carol Quillen is President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a position she has held since January of 2024. Prior to joining NTHP, she served as president of Davidson College (2011-2022), where she focused ensuring access and affordability, reimagining the liberal arts for today, and equipping graduates to lead in service of something larger than themselves. In 2023-23 she was a senior fellow at the Aspen Institute.
Quillen was a founding member of the American Talent Initiative (ATI), which aims to graduate annually 50,000 additional low- and moderate-income students from top colleges. She co-chaired the NCAA’s Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Violence and she served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. She currently serves on the boards of the National Humanities Center, Howard University and Princeton University. An historian, Quillen earned a BA from the University of Chicago and a PhD from Princeton.
