Carvel Hall: "A Showplace of Colonial Charm"

For much of the 20th century, the historic William Paca House was part of Carvel Hall, Annapolis’s largest and finest hotel and an integral part of everyday life in the community.  As the unofficial social center of the Naval Academy, Carvel Hall hosted “tea dances” for midshipmen and their “drags” and was featured in several Hollywood films. When the General Assembly was in session, Carvel Hall was home to many state legislators, who rubbed elbows and made deals over drinks in smoke-filled rooms. Senior Historian Glenn E. Campbell recalls some of the people and stories associated with an important local institution for more than six decades. Please bring a sack lunch if you like; drinks will be provided.

Cost: Free for HA Docents and Docents-in-Training; $5 HA Members and Volunteers; $10 General Admission
