According to a release from Rep. John Sarbanes, D-Baltimore County, both the foundation and the B&O Railroad Museum received $150,000 grants from the federal agency. For Historic Annapolis, the funding will support an exhibit scheduled to open in spring of 2017, which will display 99 artifacts to visually illustrate the city's history. The grant for the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore will go toward restoring and displaying B&O #51, "the first streamlined diesel locomotive to be put in service," according to Sarbanes. After B&O Railroad Museum requested the grant from the agency, Sarbanes wrote a letter to its director, Kathryn Matthew, in support.
