Eight New Mini-Grants Awards to Organizations in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County

Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town & South County announces eight new mini-grant awards to local heritage-related nonprofit organizations as part of our FY20 mini-grant opportunity.

The grants awarded this fall totaled $28,155 for projects totaling more than $154,000. This matching mini-grants program, made possible through financial support from the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, leverages other funding to assist local heritage related non-profit organizations to create new programs, activities, and events that build upon heritage-based interpretive themes, foster collaborative partnerships, and enhance local cultural historic resources and heritage tourism.

Organizations and projects approved for Fall FY2020 Mini-grant awards are:

— Annapolis Maritime Museum, Inc., for “Exhibit Extension: Hands-On Education Experience About Workboats”

— Banneker-Douglass Museum Foundation, Inc., for “The Black Vote Mural Project Public Programming”

— Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Inc., for “Cultural Carriers,” an exhibit about immigration and culture

— Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Inc. and MD Day Team, for “Maryland Day Weekend Coordination and Marketing”

— Friends of the Maryland State Archives, for Update of Booklet, “A Guide to the Legacy of Slavery in Maryland”

— Historic Annapolis, Inc., for “Video Tour of the William Paca House and Garden Designed for Visitors with Disabilities”

— London Town Foundation, Inc., for “Community Engagement Work in Preparation for Interpretive Planning”

— South Forest Drive Business Assoc. (SOFO), for “Annapolis Middle School Maritime Heritage Fence Project”
