As we close out an extraordinary 2024 at Historic Annapolis, I want to express some thoughts of gratitude.
- It was a year for several remarkable anniversaries – we celebrated 50 years of our beloved William Paca Garden Plant Sale, and brought history to life to commemorate both the 250th anniversary of the burning of the Peggy Stewart and 200 years since the Marquis de Lafayette’s last visit to Annapolis.
- Leading the charge as advocates for the preservation of our historic city, we hosted a listening session on the redevelopment at City Dock with over 150 attendees and continued our stewardship of 12 historic buildings in downtown Annapolis.
- We had the privilege of welcoming over 200,000 visitors at our historic sites from 30 different countries.
- We hosted over one hundred educational programs, expanded partnerships, and welcomed more visitors than in recent years, all with the goal of being the best stewards, storytellers, and advocates that we can be.
We look with optimism to the work ahead. The next few years will be defined by more milestones and commemorations, including the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation in 2026 and HA’s 75th birthday in 2027.
None of this would be possible without the dedicated HA staff and Board of Trustees, our knowledgeable docents and the many volunteers who enrich and strengthen our work, and our valued members, donors, and community partners. We are deeply grateful for your support, and we look forward to continuing our work together in the coming year.
Here’s to a prosperous 2025!
